Pesticide testing

Extends California’s pesticide-worker cholinesterase testing and reporting program through January 1, 2030.

The law continues health monitoring and reporting requirements intended to identify pesticide exposure among workers who regularly handle pesticides.

What the law does

Extends until January 1, 2030, employer medical-supervision requirements for employees who regularly handle pesticides.
Continues laboratory reporting of cholinesterase test information to the Department of Pesticide Regulation and data sharing with state health agencies.
Continues requirements for medical supervisors to provide test results and recommendations to tested workers and employers and report pesticide-related cholinesterase depression to local health officers.

Employers and workers who regularly handle pesticides.
Registered medical supervisors and laboratories performing ordered cholinesterase tests.
State health and pesticide regulators using test data for surveillance, investigation, and prevention.

The program would otherwise have expired on January 1, 2027.
