The Gambling Control Act: regulatory fees

The law makes it easier for licensees and the public to see why Gambling Control Fund fees are imposed and what activities they support.

What the law does ​

• Requires the California Gambling Control Commission or Department of Justice to post a detailed explanation when it adopts or amends a fee deposited in the Gambling Control Fund.
• Requires the posting to state the fee’s need, purpose, authorized use, and the general activities it will support.
• Requires a reference to publicly available rulemaking materials.
• Exempts fees adopted or amended before January 1, 2027.
