Highways: exit information
California requires business-information signs at two State Route 395 exits through January 1, 2037.
The law creates a targeted exception to the general ban on these signs in urban areas of 5,000 or more people. It is intended to help drivers locate qualifying nearby services.
What the law does
- Requires the Department of Transportation to allow information signs before the southbound State Route 395 exit to eastbound State Route 178 and before the northbound State Route 395 exit to northbound South China Lake Boulevard.
- Limits the authorization to signs for qualified motorist-service businesses located within 10 miles of the relevant interchange.
- Ends the special sign authorization on January 1, 2037.

- Qualified fuel, food, lodging, electric-vehicle charging, camping, pharmacy, and attraction businesses near the two interchanges.
- Drivers using State Route 395 near the State Route 178 and South China Lake Boulevard exits.
