Establishing the National Energy Dominance Council

The council will coordinate federal efforts to expand energy supplies, infrastructure, investment, and exports while recommending regulatory changes. Its work spans fossil fuels, nuclear power, renewables, biofuels, hydropower, geothermal energy, and critical minerals.

What the order does ​

• Establishes the National Energy Dominance Council within the Executive Office of the President.
• Names the Secretary of the Interior as chair and the Secretary of Energy as vice chair, supported by senior economic, national security, environmental, trade, and agency officials.
• Directs the council to recommend a National Energy Dominance Strategy focused on higher production, reduced regulation, private investment, innovation, and consistent federal policy.
• Requires recommendations within 100 days on expanding electricity capacity, speeding infrastructure approvals, building natural gas pipelines, reopening power plants, and deploying small modular nuclear reactors.
• Directs the council to review key energy markets, identify practices that increase costs, assess investment incentives, and consult State, local, Tribal, and private-sector representatives.
• Requires federal agencies to provide relevant assistance, information, and advice when legally permitted.
• Makes the Secretary of the Interior a standing member of the National Security Council.
