Addressing Certain Tariffs On Imported Articles

The order prevents specified tariffs from compounding when they cover the same imported article, while preserving other applicable tariffs and charges. It applies retroactively to covered imports entered on or after March 4, 2025.

What the order does ​

• Exempts articles subject to automobile tariffs from the listed Canada, Mexico, steel, and aluminum tariffs.
• Exempts articles subject to the listed Canada or Mexico tariffs from the listed steel and aluminum tariffs.
• Allows steel and aluminum tariffs to stack with each other when an article independently meets both sets of requirements.
• Leaves other tariffs and charges in place, including China-related, Section 301, antidumping, and countervailing duties.
• Directs federal officials to update tariff guidance, systems, enforcement, regulations, and the Harmonized Tariff Schedule by May 16, 2025.
• Authorizes refunds under existing law and standard customs procedures for qualifying entries made on or after March 4, 2025.
